Sketchbook

“Do this your own way” are the last words from my mom to me as she died. Seems she was encouraging me to handle her passing and my life in my own, unique way. Free of guilt or shame, no matter how different I was from family & friends. Since her passing those 5 words regularly bubble up inside me. Though they’re simple, they’ve keep making me reflect on how I’d often get sidetracked by striving for sophistication, instead of being fully myself. And though my sketchbooks are a very private place for me, there are some parts I’d like to share, in honor of my gorgeous mama, who even from the afterlife encourages me to value the quirky, truest, parts of myself show.
